Day 73: That’s the view outside my window this morning, except for the lyrics, of course. Yes, I just posted an article on the problem of hunger in the elderly. That doesn’t mean I don’t have an optimistic outlook today. The fact that I post important issues on my blog, write letters of concern to legislators and corporations, feel the benefits of offering my time to causes about which I feel passionate–that makes me appreciate the yellows, greens, pinks, and auburn hues, and the breeze that ushers fresh air and bird gossip through an open window all the more.
I have a reason for living. These actions, however small, give my life meaning and purpose. This sunny drawing and its living counterpart outside my door give me strength and hope today. The actions I take can drain me of color or help me appreciate the beauty that exists amid the bleak. Maybe that’s why I love yellow. It breathes life and warmth into whatever it touches.
