So much happened, good and bad: it’s the year of my birth, man first walks on the moon, members of Charles Manson’s cult murder five people, PBS is established, a gay club is raided in what’s called the Stonewall Riot, Ted Kennedy’s car plunges into the Chappaquiddick where a woman’s body is found later, The Beatles release Abbey Road, Monty Python’s Flying Circus TV program is shown for the first time, the Pontiac Trans Am is introduced, the first US troop withdrawals from Vietnam occur, violence and deaths mar The Rolling Stones’ free concert at Altamont Speedway, Sesame Street debuts, and about 400,000 people attend Woodstock.
